LeCultivateur Seriously, where has summer gone? Even though the days are getting slightly cooler, and a little shorter, and most bloggers are starting to decorate for fall, I am holding on to every last moment of summer that I can! If there is one flower that screams summer to me, it dahlias. They are seriously my favorite summer flower!!
Aside from this deep purple beauty, all my dahlias are either pink or white. And even this purple dahlia was supposed to be white, but I’m so excited about its beautiful color! It is going to be perfect in my late summer/fall arrangements.
All but one, of my dinner plate sized dahlias were attacked by spider mites, literally over night! But, this is only my first year growing these beauties, and you live and you learn! I’ve learned a lot, in this short season. Next year, I am going to be planting an entire cutting garden of dahlias, more dahlias, and even more dahlias!! And, I am going to protect them against insects and mites from day one!
I just love dahlias!! I love admiring their beauty outside, and also love to bring them in for some fresh cut floral arrangements!

Dahlias are my second favorite flower (roses stole my heart for first place) and while I am dealing with some nasty little bugs I still love having them. Yours are beautiful.
