Thrifted Treasure – a vintage dresser beautified
Happy Monday, friends!!! Today I’m super excited because we Tara and I are hosting our first thrift store challenge since March! What is my thrifted find, you might be wondering? Well, you might be surprised, but it’s a piece of furniture, a dresser to be exact. Her she is when I first saw her. A little beat up, and in need of some serious love…. My mother-in-law found this darling dresser for me at a Salvation Army store near her home. I love the shape, and of course, the castors are an added bonus! I started by sanding down the top of the dresser and the drawer fronts. I then…

French Vintage Friday ~ deconstructed antique chairs
Happy Friday, friends!!! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Today, for French Vintage Friday, I’m sharing something that I’ve had sitting in my garage since December…. Yep, these chairs have been waiting for quite some time to get all fixed up. I started by taking the fabric off the chairs, and removing all the staples. I LOVE the old burlap on the back, so I’m going to leave it exposed. Why cover up such beauty?!! Notice the big divot in the middle of the seat, it most definitely needed to be fixed. To fix it, I placed a big pile of batting in the seat. I then placed a…

Simple summer vibes
Hi friends!! Happy Thursday! Today, I’m so excited to be joining my sweet friend, Tara, to show y’all a simple summer project. For my project, I found these plants on clearance at Walmart. With a little clipping and trimming, these little plants are going to be cute topiaries. After they where all trimmed up, I planted them in pots that I recently found at Michael’s for just a few dollars. All of the summer decor is 70% off at Michael’s right now! Vintage books, terra-cotta pots, and these topiaries is all that is needed for this simple summer mantel decor. Hopefully I can keep the plants alive! 💗💗💗 Let’s hop…

For the love of crates and baskets
Hi friends!!! Happy Saturday! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend so far! Today, I’m so excited to be joining a group of bloggers for a fun blog hop, hosted by the very sweet and talented Cindy of County Road 407. Today’s blog hop is all about baskets and crates, and y’all know how much I love old baskets, crates, bins, buckets, etc. I love to fill them with flowers, pillows, blankets, books, etc. When placing fresh flowers in a basket, crate, bucket, etc, start by finding some sort of container/vase to hold water for the flowers. For this antique crate/box, I used four glass cylinders to hold the water.…

French Vintage Friday – vintage tureen
Happy Friday, friends! I hope your week was wonderful! Today, for French Vintage Friday, I’m sharing something that I’ve had for a few years, it was actually one of my first vintage treasures, this lovely Johnson Brothers tureen. I added some fresh flowers to it, for a little added happiness inside my ironstone cabinet. I used “wet” flower foam for the floral arrangement. It was actually the first time that I’ve ever used flower foam, and I LOVED it!! I highly recommend using it! Flower foam comes in “wet” and “dry”. “Wet” is for fresh flowers, “dry” is for faux flowers. It holds the stems perfectly! It was a must…

French Vintage Friday – old blue jars
Happy Friday, friends!! Here in the states, it’s Memorial Day weekend! In honor of Memorial Day, I put together a patriotic mantel display, using antique/vintage blue jars and flowers from my garden. I got these beauties, last year at an auction, for just $5 for the set! Some are more on the vintage side, and some are antique. I especially love the old jars with air bubbles in the glass! For my mantel, I simply put some viburnum “snowballs” in the jars, with flags. Here’s a little tip, if you want to keep your viburnum clippings lasting longer, dip the ends of the cut stems into alum, before placing…
