Furniture Transformation ~ Coffee Table

Happy Thursday, friends!! My little family vacation has almost come to an end. We get home on Sunday. We have been gone 2 1/2 weeks, which feels like such a looong time! While I absolutely love having a break from everyday life, love spending lots of uninterrupted time as a family, and of course, visiting amazing antique stores, it’s always nice to get back home and get back to a normal schedule. Am I totally weird for feeling that way?

Anyway, this week, for my furniture transformation, I wanted to share with y’all this darling coffee table that I found on the Facebook marketplace.

Here it is before…And after a few coats of white chalk paint, a slight distressing, and three brass plated label holders (Hobby Lobby), here is the finished product…

I have been asked, by quite a few people, questions regarding buying/selling, etc. While I am super new to the whole world of buying furniture, refinishing it, and selling it, there are quite a few things that I have already learned.

First of all, I think that the very most important thing is staging!! Also trying to only sell things that you would love to have in your home too. If you have a piece of furniture that you love, and wouldn’t mind keeping in your home, it’s going to show when you’re staging the piece to sell.

I ALWAYS take the time to stage the pieces of furniture that I’m going to sell. I stage it in my house, as if I were actually going to keep the piece for myself. It does take time to stage the furniture, but it pays off when your pieces sell quickly.

And, for pricing…that’s so tricky! I ask myself, “what would I be willing to pay for this piece?” I’m still trying to figure out the pricing thing, but so far I have never priced something for more than I would be willing to pay for it. Maybe I could price just a bit higher, because my items are all getting several interested buyers within minutes of listing. When, and if, I ever figure out the whole pricing thing, I’ll be sure to share with y’all! And, if you have any advice, I’d love to hear!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!!

  1. Not weird at all. As much as we enjoyed being away there’s no place like home. Your routine not to mention your own bed.

Always to good to get recharged and connected.

Love this table and thanks for the input on selling. Pricing is the tricky part but I think I’m going to give it a try.

    Safe travels home.

  2. Great job on the coffee table! It is always amazing what a little paint can do.

    1. Thank you so much!!💗 Paint is my favorite!! Such an easy transformation!

  3. Emily, I love this post. I have been painting furniture and to try to price a piece is very tricky. I too have problems with this. I think I low price a lot after I get paid. I will have to refigure things out for the next time. I also agree with you about staging. We are so visual that we need to know what it will look like decorated more so than how well it was painted. Seriously. ha! I love the piece you shared today.
