Happy Friday, friends!!! I hope you all have had a wonderful week! Tomorrow is the first day spring! I’m so excited!!!
Today, for French Vintage Friday, I’m sharing how I turned a free mirror into a simple trumeau mirror.
Here is the mirror that I started with….
After sanding and paint…
It was much more my style, but still lacking something, so I decided to make it look like a trumeau style mirror by adding a piece of wood and an appliqué.
My little guy broke the appliqué, but it still worked perfectly! Click HERE for the appliqué that I used. Using liquid nails, I glued the appliqué to the piece of wood, and then glue the piece of wood to the mirror.
I then caulked around the edges of the appliqué. In the picture below, you can see that the right side has been caulked, while the left side hasn’t. I think caulking is so important, especially if you want to have the appearance of it all being one solid piece.
I gave everything a final coat of paint. While the paint was still a little wet, I added just a bit of gold leafing foil to the appliqué.
I then brushed the majority of the gold leafing off, and hung the “new” mirror in my entryway.
This was so easy, and the possibilities are endless. Think of all the different types of trim and appliqués you could use on a boring mirror to really jazz it up!
Fresh flowers and a sweet little bunny give this space the perfect spring touch!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

I just love this! I’ve been looking for some mirrors for my master bathroom for a while now and can’t find 2 of anything I like. I think this might just be the perfect solution! Now I just have to find 2 identical mirrors that are much more basic and add the details I want! Love your inspiration….
Thank you so much!!!
OMG. Just gorgeous. Thank you.

I love what you did to that mirror, never would have thought to do that, pinned it cause I have a mirror I can do that to, thanks and have a great weekend.
Yay!! I’m so glad you like it!! Thank you so much!!!
Really nice job! You know never to touch your lamp with bare hands I hope! The tiniest spec of oil or grease could stain it.
Thank you so much!!!
