For the longest time, I have loved vintage breadboards, but when it came to finding some, it was so challenging! They were either out of my price range or not cute, so I decided to make some!
For these boards, I used a basic, one-inch thick pine board purchased from Lowe’s.
I started by outlining the handle and one of the sides. Using a jigsaw, I cut one side and used the cutout piece to trace the outline for the other side.
After your board is cut, sand all the leftover pencil marks and all edges.
Now its time to send and seal. If you want to use these for food, make sure to use a food-safe sealer, such as shellac.
Vintage breadboards come in so many darling shapes and sizes! When making these boards, I suggest googling images of old breadboards so you can mimic the shapes that they made back in the day. You could also distress the boards more than I did to add more charm and give them even more of a vintage look.
These breadboards were inexpensive and so easy to make, my favorite kind of DIY!!
