Happy Monday, friends!!! I hope you had an amazing weekend!! I spent the weekend trying to finish little projects around my house.
One project that I finished was in my bedroom. Over a year ago I painted the walls in my bedroom, but ran out of paint when I was nearly finished. I hurried to the store to get more paint, but never finished the painting, until this weekend! I usually finish projects about 80-90% and move on to the next thing. I get so excited for a new project that I don’t finish what I’m working on. It’s a bad habit that I need to change.
The walls got a fresh coat of Farrow&Ball paint in the color “Cornforth White“
I then decided to add faux brick inside the mantel, and gave it a heavy coat of joint compound. Click HERE for the blog post about my faux mantels.
After it was dry, I gave it a light sand to remove any roughness while leaving the texture. You can probably see the difference between the top bricks that are sanded and the bottoms that aren’t. After everything was sanded, I painted the bricks to help seal the plaster.
I really want this to look like an old bricked up fireplace. I love that look!
Now time to figure out how to style the mantel. I started with one round mirror, thinking I’d keep it simple, but true to my style, I kept adding more and more until I loved it!
Lifted the frameless mirror slightly, added the littlest mirror in front, changed the books, took the planter away, and added some flowers.
Added a few more flowers to balance things out a little better, added a wood appliqué to the mantel for a little added detail, and one more coat of paint to the bricks.
Added a few candles and it is done for now.
There is still a lot that I want to do in my bedroom, but for now, I’m loving it!!
Let’s hop over and see what project Tara finished in her bedroom over the weekend! Simply click on the picture below…
Thank you so much for stopping by!! I hope you are having a great start to the new week!
